How do I check my email in Unix?

You can check your email in a number of ways in Unix. Typing the following command will present you with a menu of choices from which you can select the method you wish to use:

% mail

How do I access the web in Unix?

By typing the following command at the Unix shell prompt:

% web

a text based browser called Lynx will open up in the shell.

How do I get help in Unix?

Typing the following command at the Unix shell prompt will present you with a menu of choices from which you can select which action you wish to take.

% help

Alternatively, you may send an email message to the Unix Support staff by entering the following command at the Unix shell prompt:

How do I start an editor in Unix?

Typing the following command at the Unix shell prompt will start up an editor called Jed:

% edit
